No discount
Most welcome emails open with 10% off. This one explicitly says "no discount in this email." That single line builds more trust than any code ever could.
Forward-promise
The "what's coming next" block sets an information hook that pulls open rates through emails 2 to 5. Customers stay subscribed because they want to see what's in the next one.
